Semrush is a product that helps one to optimize the website for search engines. It was founded in 2008 by Oleg Shchegolev and Dmitry Melnikov.  Its features attract a large user base. And over 5 million users use this , according to the company. It is one of the most popular Search Engine Optimization tools currently available.

Semrush works by giving information, which one can use to either

1.     Create new web content that is likely to rise traffic

2.     Identify link-building opportunities

3.     Tweak technical aspects of your site content so that it achieves a higher search ranking.

Semrush can give you keyword suggestions based on phrases you enter that can be used as the basis for writing blog posts that are likely to perform well in search results. This can also tell you how difficult it will be to rank for specific search phrases. And suggests websites that might be worth approaching.

  • It provides data for only one search engine, such as Google provides some competing tools, while Ahrefs, provide data from quite a few other search engines.
  • The Semrush interface is not  so responsive.
  • It’s hard to use the tool on  mobile devices.
  • The plans of Semrush come only with one user account and buying additional seats is too expensive.
  • Some key features are only available as part of projects.
  • Semrush limits the number of projects you can run concurrently. 
  • The site traffic estimates have not proved to be very accurate.
  • Some competitive analysis features cost an additional $200 per month extra.
  • Whilst the free month trial helpful,  there’s a requirement of entering personal as well as credit card details before you access to it.
